The Town of Morrisville consists of approximately 10 square miles in area. Except for a small eleven acre portion of the Town located in Durham County, all of the Town's corporate limits are within Wake County.

Located adjacent to Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Research Triangle Park, Morrisville has enjoyed significant commercial and industrial growth in recent years as the Town's tax base has grown from $153 million in 1989 to $525 million in 1999. The town's land use plan, revised in 1999, identified the tax base as roughly 70% commercial/industrial and 30% residential. Present date calculations from Wake County shows our tax base as 51% commercial/Industrial and 49% residential clearly indicating the enormous growth that Morrisville has been experiencing.

The population of Morrisville continues to increase rapidly, from 251 in 1980 to 3,644 in 1999. Presently, our in house estimations show that our population in 2002 to be around 10,000. This growth is due in part to the Town's central location in the Triangle Park near Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Research Triangle Park, and serviced by Interstate 40 and Highways 54 and 55. Construction has begun on an outer loop expressway around the City of Raleigh. In the future, this expressway will pass through the northern portion of the Town, with two exits located within the Town's corporate limits. Over the years, the Town has become a major employment center, with a growing residential community. Morrisville has it all, live, work, and play all in the "Heart of the Triangle Park".

The Town has sole responsibility for the maintenance, construction and improvement of the street within the Town, which also includes related sidewalk improvements. The Town currently maintains approximately ten and one half linear miles of streets.

Given the location of the Town, Morrisville is expected to experience continued commercial/industrial investment in the future as well as increased residential developments. The abundance of commercial / industrial interests in Morrisville provides for increased economic activity, more jobs, and a larger tax base that allows the Town to maintain the quality and quantity of services offered to a growing citizenry and business community of Morrisville.
